This latter measure I considered necessary for what I heard

after coming back from a holiday in Japan and what I Saw Wien

I arrived on October 10th. Cuming was also before the Colonial

Surgeon (when I was in Japan ) for taking liberties with the

Aman, but this is not entered in the kine Book.

After these and other measures taken matters improved to

a great extent, out lately again I have had some trouble in the

old direction. I caught the Varmasters' boy red-handed taking

whiskey into the Asylum a few weeks ago, anu then warned the

Waromasters.

Cumming left the Asylum this morning at 8.50 24 file - an un-

uscal proceeding.

When you have considered all tids you will come to the con-

clusion that Cumming cannot remain in the Meçical Lepartment.

When he comes back from Aberdeen I intend giving him a few days

holiday as I cannot as Medical Officer at present in charge of

the Asylums allow him to remain there just now for numerous

reasons- not the least of which is that the other servants atst

be protected from annoyance when Cumming finds out who has given

evidence in the matter,

Cumming as Senior Warumaster is the responsible officer in

charge when the Doctors re not in the Asylta and consequently
